Hello,

We have few Flex screens in our primarily Java Swing UI. This was until now displayed using DJNative Library which uses OS browser and Flash to display the swf files. But now after Flash EOL we are looking into options, Can Adobe AIR be embedded in Java thick client application to load these swf files?

TIA!

I don't think you can embed AIR, humm or that would be extremely hack'ish
but you should be able to replace the OS browser by your own browser and there use the Flash plugin

Flash EOL concern mainly the latest browser installed on the system
if you use an earlier browser that still support plugins you can then use the Flash plugin installed on the system

for example, with Adobe AIR, it embed an old version of Safari WebKit, it would run the Flash plugin

so maybe by disabling updates on an old browser we can still use flash plugin? We thought of this as backup but not confident to rely on this incase any kind of patch disables flash from all existing browsers

the browser embedded in AIR is not updated, unless Adobe or Harman would update it
so as long as you have the flash plugin installed on the system, this old browser can use it
