Adobe Reader Failed to Initialize

Adobe Reader fails to initialize. In the "other versions" and "enterprise" it fails to show any other versions available for my operating system. Windows Sp2. I am attempting to install from IE8 and Mozzila Firefox. I have Windows Essentials and it is disabled.
