Hi again!

I'm glad to report that you will no longer need to use an ANE to enable the hardware mute switch on iOS. This functionality is now available in the Adobe AIR 3.4 beta SDK with the new Ambient AudioPlaybackMode.

You can get the Adobe AIR 3.4 beta SDK from:

http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/air3-4/

For more information on using Ambient AudioPlaybackMode, see

http://blogs.adobe.com/airodynamics/2012/07/17/silencing-audio-on-ios-with-ambient-audio-playback-mode/

Hope this helps! We look forward to hearing your feedback on the feature.

Sadia Fatima,

Adobe Systems.

AIR 3.4 is still in beta and will WATERMARK your project.

It is great that you have this working in beta ... but it isn't usable for anything published yet.

Hi!

Thanks for making your requirement known to us. We're working on providing this as a feature in the AIR Runtime. We'll keep you posted.

Sadia Fatima,

Still waiting for this as well. This is a serious bug / terrible design flaw since Adobe has replied that this is by design.

We've tried using the Mute Button ANE. http://extensionsforair.com/extensions/mute-button/

But it is unusable. As it is full of bugs and the author seems to have left it for dead. Does anyone know if there are other Mute Button ANE's available or if any developer have found a simple word around?

Adobe if you are unconvinced that this is a bug. Talk with ANY developer or ANY mobile content publisher and they will tell you that having the mute button not mute all sounds is a bug or a case of terrible design logic.

Developers: Please reply to this thread to let Adobe know this is an issue for you as well.
