Air error

I have installed Adobe air.  I try to open a file with air and receive this message.  "Sorry, an error has occurred.  The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author."  I have uninstalled and re-installed air several times and tried other fixes.  What is wrong?
