OS X 10.8.3 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7

When trying to install an AIR application (WiMP), I get the following message:

The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged.

Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.

This is my log output:

The error leads me to believe that the file has been damaged.  Is this .air file available on the web so I can give it a try?

I'm having the same difficulty when I try to update my Adobe Muse. It goes through the install and at the end, I get the same error message as the original poster.

Does this mean I have to uninstall Air and start over?

I did reinstall AIR and it appears to have been successful. But every time I go to update  Muse, it goes through the entire process and then on completion I receive this message:

Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.

It's unclear whether the application being referred to is AIR or Muse. In any case, I've not been able to upgrade, which is frustrating, as I have a very early version.
