Question

AIR installation on Windows XP

I am having trouble installing AIR on my PC after downloading from the Adboe website.  When I run the installer, I get the message:

"An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."

I'm sure this is a very stupid question, but I am the adminstrator on my PC - what do I need to do to allow the installation?

GOOD NEWS! I got mine to work! I found this Link: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3375884#3375884#3375884

and saw the part where there may be an old version still installed under All Users.  I ran the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and bound an old version of Adobe Air near the top in the all users. I highlighted that and it clicked "Remove". The uninstaller did not complete but I tried installing Adobe Air 3.01 again anyway, and it worked!.

You can get a copy if you don't have it already at: http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Windows-Installer-Cleanup-Utility/3000-18512_4-15905.html.

Post if this works for you

Julieanne-

While we are waiting, you might want to look at this site: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/403/kb403150.html

You will need to post the intall.log file as an attachment or copy and paste. As you see mine was not long at all.

the file is in your directory: C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\AIR\logs

They are going to want it.

I am having the same issue. My system is XP Home SP3. the Log file is:

[2012-01-17:10:41:08] Commandline is:

There is no MSIxxx.log file generated even though the I applied MicrosoftFixit50380.msi and verified the value was set to "voicewarmupx".

I turned off and unloaded the antivirus & firewall software, tried cleaning the registry and I just get the same result.

Thanks for your time
