AIR performance issue with Snapdragon 801

Hello everybody, first thing sorry for my English.

I have a very strange problem with Adobe AIR. My APP has a lot of objects in screen and needs a lot of time to render the screen when I scroll.

I have this terminals to test my APP.

- LG G3

     - CPU: Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 2.5 GHz

     - GPU: Adreno 330

    - Screen Resolution: 2560 x 1440 pixels

     - FPS: 5

     - GeekBench score: 885

- Samsung galaxy Note 2014 Edition

     - CPU: Samsung Exynos 5 Octa (5420)

     - GPU: Mali T628

     - Screen Resolution: 2560 x 1600 pixels

     - FPS: 12

     - GeekBench score: 878

- Nexus 4

     - CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 1.5 GHz

     - GPU: Adreno 320

     - Screen Resolution: 1280 x 768 pixels

     - FPS: 10

     - GeekBench score: 492

- Samsung Galaxy S5

     - CPU: Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 2.5 GHz

     - GPU: Adreno 330

     - Screen Resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels

     - FPS: 9

     - GeekBench score: 909

* GeekBench score Higher is better.

The LG G3 is has the best hardware as you can see in all Benchmark, but has the worst performance. It's true that Nexus 4 resolution is near 4 times lower than the other 2 and that compensate the result. But I don't understand why the Galaxy Note performance is better than LG G3 when it's CPU and GPU in all Benchmarks is under the LG's. And the resolution it's a bit higher.

Extra info: I tested with a Samsung galaxy S5 and the results are similar to the Nexus 4, even worst. The Galaxy S5 Hardware is the same of LG G3 with a 1920 x 1080 screen resolution. I think that's why it's performance is better.

Can someone tell me what's happening here? Is there any problem with the Snapdragon 801 and Adobe AIR?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Goratz.

Hi Goratz,

Have you tried profiling your application to see what your performance bottlenecks are for each device?  I'd highly recommend using Adobe Scout as an integral development tool.  It's absolutely free and most AS developers swear by it.

HI Chris,

thank you for your answer. I used Adobe Scout a lot, thank you for your advice. The problem is that I have a lot objects in the DisplayList and it tooks a lot of time to render each frame. Now I'm trying to simplify the DisplayList and the frames are increasing. Anyway I don't understand why the result it's so poor with the Snapdragon 801. Any idea?

Thank you anyway.

Nothing comes to mind, but if you can get us a sample app and a bug report (bugbase.adobe.com) I'd be happy to ask our QA to take a look.

Thanks,

Chris
