Android manifest/activity question

Hi,

Is it possible to add your own layout xml in an Android application?

I want to add the activity android:imeOptions="flagNoExtractUi" to the <EditText>-tag to disable the fullscreen virtual keyboard in landscape mode. But where do I put it?

Thanks!

/Andreas

Hi Rehnberg, sorry, I don't have a solution. I'm also looking for a way to do this. Did you find a way to prevent the softkeyboard going fullscreen in landscape?

I've noticed that sometimes, after I first open my landscape-only Air app, it will use the halfscreen keyboard - although, once it reverts back to the fullscreen keyboard it uses the fullscreen one from then on. I have no idea why this is or how to replicate it, but I thought it was interesting to note that an Air app can display a half screen keyboard in landscape mode - it just seems there is no way to control when!

If anyone can help us with this, please do!

Kind regards.

Hi Steven,

Unfortunately we have not found a fix to this issue. We made a bug report a year ago but it was closed. Please add your vote here: Feature#3592444 - Option to add "flagNoExtractUi" on Android in Landscape mode

I believe it would be possible to make a native extension to work around this issue though. When using for example a Facebook ANE we always get a nice half screen keyboard inside our AIR application.

Best,

Andreas

Just want to correct Rehnberg's link.

Please vote here: Feature#3789398 - Simple option to add "flagNoExtractUi" on Android in Landscape mode

This is the latest one, and I believe we should all go vote there.
