Automatic display of created pdf not working-how do I fix so that it does open?

Automatic display of created pdf not working-how do I fix so that it does open? I must have disabled this default somehow and cannot determine how to enable it so that when I create a .pdf it opens (and it is filed) automatically. I checked the faq and could find nothing there. The .pdf is created but I need to navigate to the folder to open.
