Background turns black when interacting with forms on android

I'm creating my first app for android for a university project and I've come across a problem. I've just been trying out ways on how to connect to a SQLite database and I managed to get it working correctly. However, when I run it on my mobile, like 30% of the time, when I click on a object such as a button or a item in a list, the background flashes black. Sometimes it just stays black until I tap on the screen.

Is there a reason why this is happening?

Edit: I've just tried it on my other android device and the problem doesn't seem to be happening. However that device is about 4 years old and is running around 2.2
