Can't install Adobe Air on Mac OS 10.5.8

Hello,

I am unable to install any version of Adobe Air on my MacBook Pro. When I try to install it I get a message that reads:

"An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."

However, I am the administrator, yet it will not install. Does anyone know how I can get Adobe Air to install?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Will

I have the same OS version, and was concerned this might affect my company's AIR software, but am not sure that the problem here is Adobe: I can get the same exact error if I try to run an installer, but authenticate with incorrect information so that Adobe will not have access to make any changes... (a MacOS system dialog informs you that the password is wrong, and when you cancel THAT, AIR isn't aware that your password was the problem, and gives this as a generic message.)

Make sure that your admin password is correct by testing unlocking the padlock anywhere in your System Preferences. If the login is good after all, try a newly created admin account and install from there. Otherwise, try to use sudo if you have enabled it.

If you haven't turned it on, do a search on enabling the root user. It's not recommended to keep it enabled, generally.

In any case... cd into the folder where the Adobe AIR Installer.app is, (if you downloaded and double clicked on the DMG then that is "cd /Volumes/Adobe\ AIR" ) and then enter "sudo open Adobe\ AIR\ Installer.app". Watch out for those backslashes --you probably want to let the system auto-complete by typing "Adob"  and then pressing Tab

If sudo is hard for you to get working, or it fails to solve the problem then you should look through the forums and post logs and such, for Adobe employees to step in further. Good luck!
