Can't Uninstall Air, Mac OS X

I started having major trouble with my Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.7, after updating Adobe Flash and Air. I want to uninstall both, as a test.

Flash was apparently uninstalled easily. No improvement.

However, when I run the Adobe AIR Uninstaller.app Version 1.5.3 that's in my Utilities folder, I get a screen named "Adobe AIR Setup" telling me

"Sorry, an error has occurred.

An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."

I am, of course, not trying to install Adobe AIR but to uninstall it. I am working in an Admin account. Can you help?

Problem is that this afternoon I copied a more recent version (2.6) of the Uninstaller.app from my desktop machine to the Macbook Pro, thinking that the difficulty uninstalling might be due to the old version (1.5.3) of Uninstaller.app. So after the first two lines, the rest of the record below refers to my attempt to uninstall using the more current Uninstaller.app. The screen the 2.6 Uninstaller put up just said it couldn't find a version of Adobe AIR that it could work on.

I do still have the v1.5.3 Uninstaller.app available, saved on my desktop machine.

Chris, I imagine the first two lines of the printout are the ones you want. They were recorded when I ran Adobe AIR Uninstaller.app v1.5.3 that was initially on the Macbook Pro. The machine was already virtually incapable. After that everything was recorded when I was running the v2.6 Uninstaller that I tried because the original wasn't accomplishing anything.

I didn't make this clear, but the laptop that we're discussing is the record and communication center of my wife's medical practice. It's barely useable as it is, and it's creating enormous problems. We'll really appreciate some help pursuing the nature of the slowdown. I don't think the Apple techs are going to be able to help us much until we've dug through the possible effects of my efforts to update the Adobe products.
