Question

Could we distribute NPSWF32.dll?

My name is Manyoung Lee who works for a company that makes firewall appliance.
Currently, The Web UI that controls the appliance is implemented in Flex.
Since support for Flash will be discontinued for each browser in 2021, we are preparing to control the Web UI with an AIR application.
In order for the Web UI to operate based on AIR application, it is necessary to distribute an AIR application package with the NPSWF32.dll.
Could we violate the license policy If we distribute an AIR application package with the NPSWF32.dll?
For reference, The Web UI of the firewall appliance can only be accessed by authorized intranet users.

Thank you to everyone who replied.

We want to use the Flash content of the web browser in AIR Application without installing Flash separately.
So we have to include pepflashplayer.dll in AIR Application and will be only used to intranet users.
The pepflashplayer.dll file is required to run Flash content with the AIR Application Wekit engine.

I think I’ve covered your question now. You can’t distribute Adobe Flash Player with your app.

By the way, if the file is not part of Air runtime, it may be part of Flash Player. Distributing Flash Player is ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN and after the end of 2020 WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE. Migrate from SWF now.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your Reply.

We distribute the results compiled with Flash Builder as AIR application files.
The NPSWF32.dll file must be included with it to run Flash contents when distributed to intranet users.
I want to know if it can be a problem.

Is this DLL part of the standard Air runtime distribution? If so, you do not need to distribute it, just let the user download it. If you want to distribute the Air installer you must request a distribution licence; this is all described in the linked document.

If if it is NOT part of the standard Air runtime, what does it come with?
