Question

Creating Android / iOS app in 1 build [Icons Deleting]

I'm building a app that supports Android and iOS builds in Flash Pro. When I switch between the 2 platforms using the "Target" dropdown .. it deletes all the icons and they have to be added manually each time. It's really frustrating. Is there any way around this ?

We are suffering from this issue too. Need to be fixed.

I submitted a request for that a couple of years ago. Still isn't there yet. For now I keep text files of the list of icons for iOS and Android, and when I switch to the other one I copy and paste in the list into the app descriptor.

To make things less painful, do as much testing as you can on one platform, and only go through this hassle when you're going to post an update to testers, at which time you would briefly go to the other platform to do its build. Also, if you have the file open in a text editor you can do an Undo to revert it back to your main platform, ready for the next round of development.

Right .. I tried that .. but even when I put the copy in the app descriptor... Flash IDE wants me to manually add each one through their UI. The descriptor only doesnt work for me

Try opening the publishing settings, look at the icons (which will be empty), close the settings, paste in the list in the text editor, do a save, and then go back to the publishing settings. In all cases I then see the icons.

Now, having said that, if you're using CS6, or anything but Flash Pro CC or later, then yes, any icons that are not in the short list get wiped out when you publish. I don't think Adobe will go back and release an update to CS6 to fix that particular issue.
