Question

Development Certificate from Mac to PC

I'm trying to get Flash CS5.5 (Windows 7 64-bit) set up to deploy to my iPhone. I have been using Lee Brimelow's video as a reference (http://gotoandlearn.com/play.php?id=133), but I'm having trouble getting it to work.

I believe the problem lies in the fact that the Development Certificate was generated on a MAC by a coworker. He has done some development previously for the iPhone.

I've been following these steps to get set up:

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS144092a96ffef7cc-371badff126abc17b1f-8000.htmlhttp://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/iphone/WS144092a96ffef7cc-371badff126abc17b1f-8000.html

I have to stop on step 5, because I can't upload my CSR file to Apple, because my coworker has already uploaded his for his Mac. I'd like to keep the app that I'm developing under the Company's name, and not use a different apple development account. Can I not add my CSR to the account as well? Can I use his?

Can someone help me get this solved?

Thank you in advance!

Dustin

Hi Dustin,

If you're company has a true company account, then they should be able

to add you as a developer and you can then add your own CSR and generate

a developer certificate for yourself. You would use the same

provisioning profiles associated with the same testing devices that are

already in the company account. If it's just a single developer account

(where you can't add multiple people), then you can still use your

coworkers developer certificate by having them do the following:

1. In Keychain, under "login" and "My Certificates" twirl down the

certificate that says iPhone Developer ...

2. Right-click the private key under that certificate and choose "Export

..."

3. Name the .p12 and remember the password that was used to create it.

4. Copy the .p12 and the provisioning profile that's associated with

that coworkers certificate to your PC

At that point you're good to go with development and testing. The same

process applies to App store distribution, only make sure you use the

Distribution certificate and Distribution profile.

Thank you for your response. I notified my coworker with the steps you outlined. Will I need to do any conversions, or just load these into Flash, and use the password he assigned?

Also, I saw your videos earlier while I was searching for a solution, they are very informative! Was surprised to get a response from the person whose videos I was just viewing.

Thanks again!

Brent is a legend in his own lunchtime.

You select the certificate in the iOS settings in Flash. Just select the P12 file that was exported, and enter the password in the field. Check the box that makes it remember the password for this session.
