Question

disappearing sprites in air 3.0 for ios? Not happy

In my program I am having sprites disappear and reappear seemingly at random, usually sprites in the background. This only happens on air 3.0 for ios. It works fine in flash player 10 for the pc.

Also 2d rendering is not as fast as it was on air 2.6. And now I no longer have the option of using air 2.6 because it crashes because of a memory limitation that I am unable to get around. I cannot use air 2.7 because the timer class is all screwed up fires several seconds after it is told to.

Will 2d rendering ever be even half decent? The ipad its just aweful.

Air for android is so slow it is just unreal. Flash player 10 is a lot smoother for android for my program except it is no longer reliably firing mouse up events. Besides that there is no way to monitize my program with flash player so I'm kind of screwed there too.

Will there ever be a version of air for mobile that doesn't have a bug that is fatal to my project?

Adobe, it is really really looking grim for me. I've supported you with cs4, cs5 cs5.5 each step along the way thinking that maybe the next version will not have some aweful project destroying bug. I've put in years on this program. I can't stop now like a mad man that won't accept reality.

Air is doomed.

Hi,

I am sorry you are running into problems with AIR 3. It is currently beta and the build that you have access to might have some bugs. We would like to verify these issues with our development build. Could you please file a bug at http://bugbase.adobe.com with a test application that can demonstrate the disappearing and performace problem. Also, could you please let us know the following?

1. Are you testing on a jail broken device?

2. Are you observing this in GPU mode or CPU mode?

3. Are you using filters or CacheAsBitmap?

Thanks,

Sanika

1. not jail broken

2. gpu mode always

3. never used cacheAsBitmap (always made things slower or buggyer for me)

4. No filters (they have never worked right)

My project exceeds the 100 meg limit imposed by your uploader.

What I can do is show you how the program is supposed to work:

http://literacysoft.com/tst/McGuffey_Primer_Courseware.swf

(this works as expected in a PC browser, but no where else)

Or would it be helpful if I sent the swf, xml, and other files? My FLA is over 100 megs in size. But the rest could fit in 100 megs.

Hi,

I tried the swf but it fails to go beyond the splashScreen image because it is looking for dictionary.csv.

Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: app:/dictionary.csv

Could you send me this file along with the other resources? You could also upload the sources to DropBox and share the location with me at sanika@adobe.com.

Is this an AIR for iOS project in Flash Pro or a desktop project that you are porting to iOS? Please make sure you are not using any APIs that are not available on mobile or you are not loading a swf with code.

Thanks,

Sanika
