File.copyTo (and copyToAsync) extremely slow on Android. e.g. 1/2 second per tiny XML file. Help?

Posting this again. My app copies about 100 tiny XML files at launch. It takes about 35 seconds. Takes 1/100th of a second on any other platform in the world. Any insight out there?
