Help! Device Error: Please check if there is enough space on the device.

Help!  We're in a huge deadline crunch and I can't publish the newest versions of our iOS app!

I've never had problems publishing before, but now I'm getting this "Device Error: Please check if there is enough space on the device." error.     (There is TONS of room on the iPad I'm trying to load this on.)

This error pops up when I have the check box selected "Install application on the connected iOS device".  If I don't have that checked, I don't get an error, but the app won't install successfully on the iPad when I use the approach of dragging the ipa over to iTunes and synching the device.

Oddly, if I use an AdHoc Provisioning Profile I created for a different app, it publishes just fine!  (But I obviously need to provide the appropriate provisioning profile for the App Store).

I've tried creating a new Distribution Provisioning Profile and using that, but that's not helping. (aside from the AdHoc one I created).

Any suggestions?

I'm really in a bind here!  Thanks!

Correct answer Colin Holgate

I think you meant profiles, not certificates. If you make a build with a distribution certificate and an ad hoc provisioning profile, and it works ok, you can then make the app store build by only changing the provisioning profile, and selecting App Store when doing the build.

You won’t then be able to test it on devices, because the profile doesn’t let you. Just go ahead and submit the app.

In a nutshell...

Using an App Store distribution certificate, publishing throws the error.

Using an AdHoc distribution certificate, it publishes just fine.

What am I doing wrong?

So App Store builds aren't testable on my test device, they're only good for submitting to the App Store, is that correct, Colin?

I must have known that at some point, but I've been focusing on the Android version the last couple of months.

That's exactly what I needed to know, Colin.  Once again, you've provided exactly the answer I needed.  I'm building a shrine to you in my cubicle!  ; )
