Question

I am unable to install Air on Windows 8 Dev Preview

I have tried v.2.7.1 and v.3.0.0.388 (RC1). I have tried using the compatiblity feature in Win8 that allows it to install as compatible with XP sp3, Vista sp2, and Win7. No luck with any of them.

I know that Win8 is not a supported OS, but I'm hoping somone might have an idea for making this happen. I've run into no other problem installing any other apps to this point.

Hi Ed,

I just gave this a try with my Win 8 preview using the AIR 3 RC build without any problems.  Could you post your installer log so we could take a look?  You can find details here:  AIR Installer Log Instructions

I tried to run Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It. But it wouldn't accept win8 as an acceptable version of the OS.

Bummer about the fix it...  Was this Win 8 install an upgrade?  Could AIR have been previously installed/uninstalled?  You might want to give this VB script I created a try.  It tries to brute force the AIR uninstall and has been helpful to others in the past.  I haven't tested it on Win 8, but it's operations are limited to AIR related registry entries and files/folders.
