Input text on iPad getting cut off

Hi

I saw a few other threads about this, but none of them seem to help my situation..

I'm running an AIR 3.0 app on an iPad 1 ... there is a single text input field (TextField), using Helvetica Regular

It looks fine when you are not inputting text, but as soon as you tap it and the native keyboard comes up, the font appears to increase in size and the text field gets shifted down with the bottom half of the text getting cut off.
