Hi,

A friend of mine asked me if I could develop an app for his Ipad, from what I've read so far it doesnt seem to hard (the app is nothing special).  However I need to get information from his address book, something AIR can't do currently.

My question is will Adobe ever develop tools access to this feature or will it be restricted to objective-C programmers? Or does anyone know a thrid party solution?

The next major release of AIR will allow you to extend your app to include native modules. This will allow you to access the contacts database using native APIs, among other things.

Great, is there a rough estimation of when the next update is going to be released? (ie this year/next?)

You can learn more about the new AIR 3 mobile and desktop features and develop apps with AIR 3 by applying for our private prerelease program. By doing so, you'll get to know the features of the upcoming release.
