Is it required to use ActionScript to use NativeProcess classes or can we use Javascript to access OS-level functionality?

Hi There,

Is it possible to use JavaScript, rather than ActionScript, for accessing the NativeProcess classes?  The reason I ask is that I would rather code in JavaScript than ActionScript, but am uncertain if there is a way I can access OS level functionality using JavaScript.  I definitely want to package my app with AIR, but just wanted to know that I can use JavaScript for that particular need? 

If it is possible, can somebody point me to some documentation or tutorials showing how this is possible to do with JS?
