Issues trying to open a AppCompatActivity

Is it possible to open AppCompatActivity from an android native extension? 

- appcompat resourses.. range of attempts:
android.support.v7-27.0.2 ... androix.appcompat.1.1.0

- harman air sdk versions:
31.1.1.<259, 345, 406>

doesn't matter the appcompat version, air sdk version, same error:
java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: No static field AppCompatTheme of type...
