Question

iTunes install error for 3GS when using CS5.5

Since I updated to Flash/Flash Builder CS5.5 I am getting the error "The application "XXXX" was not installed on the iPhone because it is  not compatible with this iPhone" when I try to install an app onto my development iPhone (older 3GS model with firmware iOS4). If I go back to CS5 there is no error.

Can anyone explain why I get this error?

My settings:

OSX 10.6.7

CS5.5 Web Premium

Resolution set to standard (I even tried deleting the line from descriptor file to mimic CS5)

iPhone 3GS 8g iOS 4.1

Hi,

Are you using the same -app.xml file from the CS5 build? There may be a conflict where it builds incorrectly in CS5.5. Try deleting the -app.xml let CS5.5 build it again. Otherwise, make sure the iPhone UDID is in the provisioning profile.

And you're sure it's a 3GS? If it can't upgrade to 4.3, then its not a 3GS. CS5.5 only supports the newer devices that support arm7 processors. CS5 let you target older devices.

Thanks iBr3nt.

1. The phone UDID is in the profile.

2. It is not the descripter file, I have tried building the exact same simple app with CS5 and then CS5.5. The CS5 app installs perfectly and the CS5.5 get the error.

3. I think you are right, the phone is 3G, not 3GS and this is most likely causing the error, thanks.

AIR on iOS doesnot support 3G model. Thats why you are not able to install it on the device.

The system requirement for AIR on iOS are

  • iPod Touch 4th generation, iPhone 3GS or 4,  iPad
  • OS 4 or later
