League of Legends not working with AdobeAir 3.9

I just updated from 3.8 to 3.9 without any issues. I did all troubleshooting steps but still the following happens:

When i open the launcher, the logo appears and the vanishes. Nothing else happens.

When i try to start the client directly it tells me that there is no version of AdobeAir installed and that i should download one.

LoL comes with it's own version of AIR, so installing the stand alone version won't help in this case.  Can you try downloading the online installer here: http://signup.leagueoflegends.com/en/signup/download and then try again?

Installation finished.

The logo appeared and pvp patcher kernel crashed instantly while starting LoL with the setup.

Starting as described in my first post leads to the same results.

You'll probably get better support on the LoL forums, but have you tried doing a clean install?

My guess is that there's something cached that needs to be deleted, but I'm not familiar with where things are put for LoL.  Installing AIR 3.9 shouldn't have any bearing on this app, as LoL uses an internal version and won't look for our external copy of the runtime.
