Did anyone solve this in any other way ..still having this issue.. seem so trivial and debilitating surprised it's not more documented.

Is there really no way to listen to keyboard events in AIR for IOS from the stage ?

I need to listen for events from a bluetooth keyboard.

This seems so basic.  ...

Has anyone run in to this issue ?

Are you using a Flash textfield, or a native input field (that is, StageText)? If it's the native input field then I don't think there's any hope of an AS3 listener intercepting the value.

Neither.

This is for a game.  i'm using the iCade. which is basically a bluetooth keyboard. A class was written to handle the listening of the keys.  ie/

stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, onKeyDown, false, 1000);

stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, onKeyUp, false, 1000);

These are ignored in iOS

So I'm not using a textField.. I was hoping to listen from the stage for the key presses.
