Problem starting AIR app from windows server 2003

Hello,

I have an AIR app that I am trying to run using a c# webservice under Win 2003.
I am starting the application process (air .exe file) as the "Network Service" user which has full-rights on the app-folder and app-working folder. The problem is that once with the applications the "Adobe AIR Updater.exe" process is starting to (using the same user N.S.) and both of the processes stop responding.
I have tried to start the process as "Local Service" with "Desktop Interaction" too but unfortunately with no result.
I must tell you that under XP and Vista it runs perfect...

Is there any security issue related to win 2003 or any way i can start an air app from command line.
Also i am interested why "Adobe Air Updater.exe" is starting ?

Hello,

did anyone one find a solution to this problem ??

how come the adobe autoupdater is starting itself ? it even does it with air 2.0 beta

I even tried to modify the registry mentioned here   (  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AIR/1.5/air_admin/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11c0f59823a-7ff0.html  )  but I still get the adobe air updater.exe running.

hope someone can help me

Good day

Edit...

I've got had the same problem.  Any other solutions?

We copied the eulaAccepted file from one of the users on the server that manually accepted the EULA when air was first run on that account.  What was happening to us was the web user was being forced to "Accept" the eula, but wasn't able to.  Works perfectly now.

Where is this eula file?

edit:

Found it, here it is for anyone else who may want it.

[drive]:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Adobe\AIR

edit2:

Still not working for me. I'm trying to run the AIR app as a different user through a C# program. All it does is call Process.start() but it gets stuck with the Air Updater and nothing happens.

I've had this same problem on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3.

It happens when I run the AIR application from a Windows Service, or when I run it as from a Scheduled Task.

Symptom:  Adobe AIR Updater.exe starts (can be seen in the Windows Task Manager), and never stops; and the actual AIR application never starts.

Disabling updates through the Adobe AIR Settings Manager does not fix the problem.

In both cases, Adobe AIR Updater.exe is being run with user name "SYSTEM".  If I cause the scheduled task to be run as a systems administrator it still doesn't work.  But if I cause it to be run as myself, it does work.  (I installed AIR and the AIR application while logged in as myself.)

Unfortunately this isn't an easy option for the Windows Service.

Suggestions are welcome.  I'd be more than happy to completely disable the update functionality.

Adrian,

After some checking, I need to correct my statement that Windows Server 2003 is not officially supported platform. It is officially supported.

If you have the problem with running AIR apps on the platform, please file a bug.

Sorry about the confusion.

It is.

When you try to install AIR apps or run your AIR apps?
Running AIR apps should not cause msiexec.exe to crash.

If the problem happens when you try to install your AIR app., could you post the installation log here?

Thanks,

Does Windows XP SP3 is supported? I cannot find that information on the web. I have "msiexec.exe" crashing in Event Viewer when I run my air app ?!

What it means we don't guarantee it will work on the platform.

Hi Adrian,

Windows 2003 Server is not on the list of supported OS by Adobe AIR.

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the reply. I have installed the Adobe Air SettingsManager and disabled the AIR automatic update setting, but I still get the "Adobe AIR Updater.exe" process starting.
I have Adobe AIR 1.1 framework and if i run manually the Adobe AIR Updater.exe i get a message telling me i have the latest air framwork already installed.
Any way that this could be an AIR bug on windows 2003 ? .. or just security related issues to flash / windows ?

You can use the Adobe AIR Setting Manager to disable the update process.

The Updater checks if there is any Runtime update. If you install the latest version of AIR Runtime, it should not try to update.
