Problems with Adobe AIR 2 installation on Macintosh

Running Snow Leopard X.6.4 and I have downloaded Air 2x for Macintosh.  When installing the installer hangs and then when I Quit the installer quits unexpectedly.  The first thing I tried afterwards is try installing AIR 2x in Safe Mode, still got the AIR 2x installer nonresponsive and when quitting the installer AIR 2x it quits unexpectedly.  The second thing tried is after browsing the articles in the Adobe AIR Forums found an article that provided an uninstall Psudo command run from Console (Applications\Utilities folder) getting a message that the command could not be found.  The third thing tried is running the AIR uninstaller (Applications\Utilities folder) and then rerunning the AIR 2x installer running into the same problem of the installer ending up unresponsive and when quitting the installer AIR 2x it quits unexpectedly.  Anyone have ideas on getting AIR 2x installed.  I no longer have the AIR Media Player on the computer.

Hi,

Is it possible to get the log files from your install?  You can find details on where these are located in this document.

You might also want to try the solution suggested in this post.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi

Can you rerun the AIR Runtime installer again and isolate logs captured for that installation.

Prior to running installer...  Open console.. Clear display, then run installer. Copy / Paste what is on console.

Download current AIR version here:

http://get.adobe.com/air/

Confirm that AIR has been uninstalled:

-Run uninstaller  /Applications/Utilites/Adobe AIR Uninstaller

-Confirm files are removed  /Library/Frameworks  Adobe AIR.framework folder should not be present

Not sure why the -uninstall command failed with "Command not Found"

To uninstall from cmd, make sure you have the same version of the Installer that is currently installed on system:

-Right click on the AIR installer and Show Package Contents

-Drag file from /Contents/MacOS/   Adobe AIR Installer to a Terminal and type -uninstall

should look like this:  /Volumes/Adobe\ AIR/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer -uninstall

You can probably capture logs for the uninstall as well.

You mentioned that you have Adobe Media Player.  Was this installed from a CS5 product install or an AIR Badge.

There were some folders being set to root If you installed CS5 products. To test this...

Rename that following Adobe folders to oldAdobe  if present and try reinstalling:

/Applications/Adobe

and

/Users/your_user_folder/Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe
