Run-time program needs AIR. Most recent update installed. Program doesn't recognize Air.

I have a program that states it needs the most recent update of AIR to run. I had the latest version. I un-installed the program and re-installed a fresh copy the program from Adobe. The computer still states that it needs the latest version, so the program doesn't run. The program is running off Microsoft drive-my employer sent it that way to me.
