Hi,

Did you tested with Samsung S8, S8 Plus and AIR 26?

It was working fine few months ago when I tested it. I think I used AIR 25.0.0180 Beta I do not remember since I do not own the device I tested it in a mobile shop  But back than it was working fine and I am not sure if it is because Android update. Because I saw on one device that one has software updates from march 2017 and other from april 2017.

On both devices the resolution (stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight) is reported with crazy numbers. For one set of devices (s8, s8 plus updates from april I think) it reports 2560x1440, 1920x1080, 1280x720 but for other set of the devices it reports even weirder resolutions like 2678x1440, 2008x1080, 1339x720 but it never reports correct resolution like 2960x1440, 2220x1080 and 1480x720.

All devices I tested on were running Android 7.0. Also I noted that one of the s8 plus device model number was SM-G955X and other was SM-G955F. So now I am not sure if it is because software update, model version or AIR SDK version?

I have tested it on AIR 26.0.0.93 Beta, 26.0.0.118 and 26.0.0.119 Beta.

Caslav

Hi,

I was not aware of the option on the Samsung S8 and S8 Plus devices where you can set if the certain application will be running in the full screen mode or not because when I tested for the first time everything was working fine without me needing to configure anything in the phone settings. Now that I know that I have to turn full screen mode for the app I have tested my app again and there are still some strange things that occur so can you please test this and confirm if it is a bug or not. Here is what I found:

1) There are still differences in reported resolutions on different Samsung S8, S8 Plus devices but only when app is not running in full screen mode. If app is running in full screen mode the reported resolutions are correct on all Samsung S8, S8 Plus devices. I am almost sure that this is due to update because I have tested on 4-5 different devices and the model number was the same but latest software update date was not and they had different resolutions when running in non full screen mode.

2) For the devices that had software update from March 2017 reported resolution was 2560x1440 and for devices that had software update from April 2017 reported resolution was 2678x1440 when running app in non full screen mode. So the only strange thing currently is that there are Samsung S8, S8 Plus devices that report different resolution when running app in non full screen mode which is strange.

So the issue now is why there are Samsung S8, S8 Plus devices that report different resolution when not running in full screen mode. One device is reporting 2560x1440 and other is reporting 2678x1440.

Is that a bug on Adobe AIR or bug on Samsung software?

We are experiencing the same issues regarding Samsung S7 and S8 with two of our products, one uses AIR 22 the other one AIR 25. The results differ but they are all getting incorrect resolutions. We guess It might be Adobe AIR bug.

Results from a S8 device:

AIR 25 product:

720:   height=1480&width=720

1080: height=1554&width=756

1440: height=1554&width=756

AIR 22 product:

720:   height=1384&width=720

1080: Multiple sizes being passed after relaunch: 1554&width=756, height=1557&width=810, height=2076&width=1080.

1440: height=2076&width=1080

Well I do not think that Adobe is interested in this. I have posted a question a month ago and nobody has answered.

You get event different resolutions, that is really like not consistent at all But again you are using older versions of AIR SDK and Samsung s8 is pretty new device. Did you tried with latest AIR SDK 26?

I am only getting two sets for resolutions when application is not in full screen mode. When app is in full screen mode everything works great on all S8 devices.

One set of resolution is:

2678*1440, 2008*1080 and 1339*720

Other set is in 16:9 aspect ratio:

2560*1440, 1920*1080 and 1280*720
