as the one in the weather.app or any dashcode application info. I've tried to do it manualy from the timeline but performance on 3GS is miserable (cca 4fps). even the fake one with skewing instead of pseudo 3d is very slow - beyond acceptable.

it is not essential function of the my aplication but it would give it a nice touch...

any suggestions?

here's a good example with a source file:

http://www.snorkl.tv/2010/12/easy-breezy-3d-card-flip-effect-with-flash-as3-and-our-good-buddy-timelinemax/

i've tried to insert bigger bitmaps (640x960). It's not smooth on the 3GS (for which  320x480 is just enough) but it works surprisingly better thanwhat i've tried to do in timeline.

Not familiar with weather.app, do you have a different example, is it like the iOS home screen navigation or like the iTunes CoverFlow?

All iPhones have a Weather app, most likely on the first home screen. The one with a picture of the sun as the icon. Open that and then touch the info i in the bottom right corner. That's the effect he means. It's similar to the effect you get when touching the i in a Dashboard app, only with the iOS variation the window shrinks and grows as it spins around.

Oh yes I see, the card flip effect. I would suggest the greensock TweenLite plugin it does a great job animating simple motions, I am not sure if it has a skew options but it does have all the regular tween features found in native flash so you would guess that it does?
