Spotlight search or?

Is there a way to diable the ipad autofilling of input fields? I turned of spotlight search for everything, and no longer get the dropdown box, but it's still modifying input when I don't want it to. For instance, I have a name field - my co-worker enters his last name of 'gaynor' and the iPad changes it to 'gay or'.
