Startup parameters for AIR

Are there any startup parameters to increase efficiency of apps I start with AIR? Like, java allows to specify Xmx parameters for giving the app more RAM to use. Is there anything like this for Air?

Also, if I download the AIR beta, does that mean I can run old apps in the newer version, and may experience better performance there?
