I am mostly posting to the forums to get attention to ticket
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/ASC-4307

This is a major user experience issue with software we have released and were planning on releasing.  It renders portions of our sofware unusable.  It is not an issue with AIR 2.7 and below.  This is a result of an issue in Flash Player 10.3.183.5.

We are forced to recomend clients downgrade their AIR installation at this time.

Hello,

Thanks for posting and commenting on this issue.  We are definitely aware of the problem are will be investigating it's implications with AIR.  I'd like to recommend voting and commenting for the following bug:

https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2950873

In addition, have you tried either of the following possible workarounds?

The first, initially reported in this bug, was to set the text fields initial x property to a positive number.  I also ran across this bug with a different approach:

Thanks,

Chris

It is, unfortunately, an issue with our current release as well as releases going back 4/5 years.   People who paid for a previous version can not be fixed as we were unaware of the difficulties of migrating a code signing certificate (it cant be done if expired more than 6 months).  So we missed our window for the older versions.

It is a MDI application with 30+ windows all of which could be effected as well as our main charting area (multiple places).  So it is a large undertaking.  I am guessing 20 hours minimum without testing.  I am concerned that we will miss an area.

Our workaround was to resize the window by 1 pixel, thus resizing the textfield.  This meant the end user would see the issue but then see it disappear.  We were not happy with that.  Also as it was affecting multiple places I was really hoping this would get resolved quickly.

I understand.  If you wouldn't mind, having that information in the bug's notes can be very helpful.

In the interim, if users are looking for previous versions of AIR you can find them here:

Archived Adobe AIR Runtime and SDK Versions

Though not recommended for most users, if you'd like to disable auto update notifications, scroll down on the page and you'll find instructions for our SettingsManager tool.
