Where do I go when this happens?

Hi,

So...

AIR has a known bug that has been acknowledged and verified by Adobe and that causes us actual commercial pain.

Bug#3545316 - [Platform_Android]NetStream playback on Android is truncated

Despite this, it has been closed and deferred. I have tried to find out why, and been told I have to refer to an alternative, duplicated thread.

There is no link to this duplicated thread and the last request for clarification took two months for a not very satisfactory response.

Is there a higher authority to appeal to?

Is there even a way to find out the basic information as to WHERE this duplicated thread might be?

Is there, in fact, any way whatsoever for me to interact with the bug process?

I just read the bug report that you linked to.  It looks like the duplicate thread he is referring to is the new issue you opened already (though I could be wrong).  Unfortunately, it looks like this issue was not deemed high priority and won't be fixed unless enough people vote on it (which gets really frustrating, especially it it is a showstopper for you).  The voting takes place on the bug report page that you already opened which has 6 votes so far.  Not sure how many votes it needs to be a high enough priority.   As for interacting with the bug process that only way that I am aware of is through bugbase and the forums.  If you get enough attention to it through the community and is actually a problem that many people run into and vote on to be fixed, then it will definitely expedite the process.  If not, it may never be fixed.

I'm curious: Did you test the difference between flv and mp4 files? I encountered so many random and sometimes even surreal problems with mp4, that we changed to flv. I know the quality is inferior, but good enough for our purposes. I guess this is related to mp4 being HW accelerated and the implementation is left to some random chip.

Consensus so far from both internal and external testing is that this has been fixed.  Anyone finding contradictory results with our latest beta?

Thanks, CB,

TBH, the process has been so drawn out I had forgotten even creating that duplicate ticket.

Yes, it is frustrating.

To anybody coming across this thread and this issue, please vote here; Bug#3731463 - Android _STILL_ truncating video at the end of NetStream

cb and Gaius,

We've got a fix in our upcoming beta build (currently scheduled for Wednesday if we don't hit any snags) that I'm hoping fixes this problem.  Would love to get your feedback once the beta is released.

Thanks,

Chris
