Hi,

I'm using Flash 5.5 with Air 2.7.

Does anyone know what the ipa file is compatible with? all iOS devices or just iOS 4?

Thanks,

Matt

Yeah!

AIR 2.7 requires iOS 4 or later, which includes some versions that can run on an iPhone 3G. The reason the 3G is left out is because AIR 2.7 requires the Armv7 chip, it doesn't work with the Armv6 in the 3G.

AIR 2.6 and 2.7 support armv7 devices with iOS 4.x. An iPhone 3G is an armv6 device and apps packaged with AIR 2.6/2.7 won't run on it.

Apple are demanding that I build with armv6, not armv7, because my original app was built with armv6. They will not accept my update because of it.

However - I don't think I can build the updates with the earlier air 2.5 package.

How do I build for armv6 and not 7, or build for both at least?

thanks

You will need to either use Flash CS5, or make your swf and use the command line to package the app using PFI.

Failing that, make your app be a new product. For example, with AIR 2.7 you can support Retina display, so maybe you could release an HD version of the app, and introduce it at a low price so as not to upset owners of the old app, if they choose to buy the new version.

What is PFI ?

and make it a new app ..... groan. I don't need this on a Sunday morning :-)

Thanks man!

That cuts out a large audience, so I suppose we'll have to think long term about this. I might have to just start with the ipad then.

In that case:

1) using Air 2.7, is that not compatible with ipad 1?

2) If ipad 1 does work, does anyone know if the results from flash apps are much worse than on the ipad 2, or similar?

Thanks again,

Matt
