Why Won't AIR Install on My Computer?

I have tried installing AIR on my computer, but I keep getting an error message saying that the application is misconfigured. Why is this and what should I do?

Try http://get.adobe.com/air/ for the latest installer.

Hey! I have Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. The message I keep getting is "Sorry, and error has occured. This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance." This occurs when I launch Adobe Story. It downloads the new version and when the AIR Application Installer goes to install the application, this is the message I get. I have tried updating, and I still have the same problem.
