Will you be releasing an 3.7 SDK that compatible with Apache Flex?

Hi,

For AIR 3.6 two version of the AIR SDK were released one with teh new AS compiler and one for Flex with teh old AS and MXML compilers. Will you be releasing an 3.7 SDK that is compatable with Apache Flex? And if so when willit be available?

Hi Chris,

Yes AIR 3.6 worked with Apache Flex. There weere two versions of the 3.6 SDK released and one that worked with Flex and one that didn't.

See the text "Note : Flex users will need to download the original AIR SDK without the new compiler." on the AIR download page.

Be nice if that note/link was made more obvious as we had a few people download the wrong version of the SDK.

Thank you Justin. I talked with the runtime managers and found out that we do plan on releasing the AIR 3.7 SDK for flex users. The problem right now is that we only have the one (with compiler) available on the labs channel. We're discussing adding both to labs but I don't have a decision on that yet. Regardless, both will be available when 3.7 ships and hopefully we'll get the Flex compatible version out for beta too. The feedback on this thread and the bug report clearly shows there is a demand.

Hi Chris,

I noticed a new version of AIR 3.7 (March 26) has been released that is not compatable with Apache Flex.

Could you please get the content of this page modified:

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/air.html

So that it has a big warning somewhere stating "This version of AIR is not compatable with Apache Flex".

Thanks Justin. I talked with the team and let them know that this was important and confusing. We're wrapping up the 3.7 beta but I'll try to get this page modified if it's changed again. For 3.8 I'm going to press for both versions of the SDK to be made available at the start. At the minimum I'll make sure the page is noted accordingly.

Chris, I've tried overlaying 3.7 beta with Flex 4.6 (becuase I'm still on FB 4.6) , but I get error 'no flex sdk found). Will you release Air 3.7 beta without ASC2 or point what dirs/files I should remove to make it compatible with Flex 4.6 ?

The roadmap includes no information about support for Apache Flex.

I have allready raised a bug request.
