character appearing in string

Hello everyone,

This one has me stumped. I have created an array of letters and these letters are being placed into a selection of text fields through the use of a for loop. The problem I have is that when the for loop inserts the £ and ¥ characters into the specified text fields, Flash in its wisdom ass the  character to the string.

Has this happended to anyone else and did you find a solution to this problem.
