Adobe Animate Code Signing Certificate Instructions? - How To Guide?

Hi,

I am developing an application in Adobe Animate using Actionscript 3 which will be used on Windows desktop and Mac at some point. I have been using a self signing certificate for the longest, but I do not really understand all the steps necessary to gain a code signing certificate so that user's aren't seeing a "unknown publisher" or false positives from virus scanners for my software.

I know Comodo and some other companies offer code signing certificates, but I do not understand the full process after they verify my identity. Is there a full guide on how to get all this setup? And are there free code signing certificates available? I'd be registering as an individual, not as a company.
