For adobe animate I've been trying to use the keyboard shortcuts specifically for frames F5 F7 more specifically, none of those shortcuts are working I have tried many other things like checking settings and making sure I'm selecting things correctly. Unsure of what to do.

You on a Mac? You have to hold down the fn key in order to use the function keys.

Maybe your function keys are set to something else and you need to enable them from the bios or the OS?

If you don't know how to do this, you can reassign these functions and map them to some other keys.

For example I use some single key shortcuts on the left hand:

X to convert to keyframes, Z to add frames, Alt+Z for blank keyframe and Shift+X to remove keyframes. It is much easier and more ergonomic.
