Animate 2020 - Things disappearing from stage

Just updated and the only tool that will work for me is the Fluid brush.  None of the other tools show anything UNTIL I go back to the fluid brush.  I can draw a pice of content with the erasure or pencil or something and it will show up in the keyframe on the timeline but not the stage.  I even downloaded a tutorial file and when I opened it it blinked on the screen and then disappeared.

What on earth could be causing this?
