I'm planning on asking for Animate and Character Animator for christmas, so I can finely bring to life an idea i've had for a long, long time called Area Town however, i was just wondering why is their no easy way to transition between the two and why don't we just get rid of character animator and put it's features in Animate? it seems simple, and for two things I plan to use and which seem obvious to pair together it just seems to not be obvious, has anyone else done this/tried this and if you have/tried, how did you do it?

Not to rain on your parade here - but both Animate and Character Animator are no longer in active development. Adobe remains silent on the matter.

Instead of investing your time and money in defunct animation software, I would suggest that you look for alternatives that are actually still actively supported and developed.

Free options are OpenToonz or Tahoma 2D (easier version of OpenToonz) and Blender (also does great 2D animation). Both are more feature-rich than Animate for animation work. Krita is nice for frame-by-frame drawn animation. All open source and free! 🙂 Facial motion capture is also possible in Blender - look for tutorials on YouTube.

Commercial options: Moho Pro (they've got a BlackFriday deal going on now) which has awesome bone-rigging for 2d puppets, Toonboom, CelAction2d, Clip Studio Paint, and TVPaint.
