Animate CC won't let me drag sound from library to timeline

I can import sound to the library (.wav 44.1 khz 16 bit) but it will not allow me to drag it to the timeline. I drag it but once it reaches the timeline there is a "no" sign (circle with diagonal line across it) next to the cursor. If i drag it to the stage, it is a green circle with a white plus sign instead, but still the sound is not added to the timeline. Nothing happens. Please help! Thank you
