Animate Crashes

Anyone know what could be causing Animate to crash everytime I copy and paste from Illustrator? I make a lot of display ads and it was working fine earlier this week.  I find it much easier to copy and paste elements from my static ads into animate to create the animation.  I just updated to the most current Mac OS, uninstalled and reinstalled animate, and it's still crashing.

HELP!

The constant crashing is the absolute worst when you're in the middle of a project. Have you tried clearing the Animate Preferences yet? I've found that usually fixes the 'launch-to-crash' cycle. Also, double-check if your GPU drivers need an update—sometimes Animate gets really finicky with hardware acceleration settings!

I have the same problem. Animate 2024 crashes everytime I cut and paste from Illustrator 2026. I tried it using Illus 2025 and it crashes as well. I work the same way, it’s much easier to copy and paste elements from my static ads into animate to create the animation for the display ads I make.

    I don’t have any plug-ins installed.

Can you share the Illustrator file to check?

This is just one of the ad sizes.

I have the same problem. I tried copying from Illustrator 2026 and also on Illustrator 2024, but Animate crashes when pasting from either one.

As a workaround, I saved the vector in svg and imported the file into Animate and that worked

Wow. What a hassle. That’s gonna take me forever to create my animations

I have the same issue. I'm pretty sure the problem is that Illustrator is the 2025 version while Animate is is the 2024 version making them incompatible. Meaning you can't copy and paste from 2025 to 2024.

Here's the kicker if you no longer have Illustrator 2024 (I made the mistake of forgetting to uncheck the "Remove Older Versions" box) you are pretty much screwed. Because Adobe won't let you install that version anymore and they have quietly decided to abandon Animate, meaning 2024 will be the newest version you can use.

Even though this issue is 100% the result of Adobe's making, don't expect them to address this issue, respond to it, acknowledge it, or do anything about it. They couldn't give two sh*ts about their customers as they have so clearly demonstrated over the last 20+ years, but they will happily steal from you to train their crappy AI.

ai 2024 should still be available.

Creative Cloud only allows me to go back to version 29.0, CC24 is 28.x. Clicking on the Looking for an older version button just leads to the link below which doesn't really cover any of the major programs and even then primarily end at 2025.

Same problem, following for solution. In the meantime, I have to save everything as PNG and place it into the animation.

Yes, on a Mac, the crashes started happening after the recent update. I updated both the OS and Adobe CC apps, so Im not sure which update caused the problem.

corrupt preferences is a common cause of crashes.
