Animate Crashing & Corrupting Files – Any Stable Versions?

Can anyone recommend a stable version of Animate? I have the latest version installed on my computer, but it keeps shutting down unexpectedly. I lost an entire day of work because of it. Even with auto-save set to every minute, it still corrupted my entire file!
Adobe only allows installations up to version 23.0.
