Animate employment

I'm trying to learn about the virtues of Animate vs. After Effects.  While I like the presets in After Effects, I do prefer Animate's potential for interactive HTML banners and simple gaming.  Most importantly, I'm trying to improve my skillset for a different job.

Where is the design industry leaning?  AfterEffects or Animate?
