animate file blank when opened, says my document may be damaged, library intact

Question

when I open up my fla in animate my file looks completely blank, although the library is still intact. in the output box it says:

"

Could not load scene into memory. Your document may be damaged.

Warnings generated while copying/importing in sonic2.fla:
* Layer effects can be seen only when 'Advanced layers' mode is turned ON from document settings.

"

I accidentally overwrote my swf, but I have an mp4.

How can I fix this?

you can try using winrar by renaming your fla to a zip file,

open in winrar and repair the zip file

rename the repaired zip file to a fla

open the repaired and renamed fla in animate.

if that fails, and you have no working swf, you have no other options (that i know of).

in the future, periodically save your fla's with an appended increasing version number so this does not recur.
