Animate is lagging / freezing when I try to animate on my FULL HD 1080 file

I have a new mac mini and plenty of storage. When I first created the full hd file it worked fine then the next day when I started scene 2 it started freezing everytime I would switch from outline veiwing to regular veiw and now it freezes everytime I click on anything in animate even the menu bar at the top of my mac. I tried changing the pushlishing settings to level 2, restarting my computer, deleting files, updating Animate, but nothing has worked. At first I thought it was the program then I opened up other fla. files with the 720 preset and they worked fine. I thought about using proxies but I'm not sure if that's possible in animate and if it is, there are no tutorial on it. I thought about changing the presets but I don't know if I did it right. I changed the document settings to the 720 HD stage settings but it still didn't work. Is there anything else I can do?
