Animate won't open

when I try to open animate I get the following message- "unknown error; quitting application"

It did work in the past, I tried restarting my pc, and uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

any ideas? thanks!

reset your preferences by removing:

Win:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Animate CC <version>\ and

C\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Animate\<version>\

Mac:

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/<Animate CC version>/ and

/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Animate/<version>/
